St Bartholomew's Church

4606015398033baSt Bartholomew’s Church is at the centre of the hamlet of Harpley. It was built in 1877 to replace the derelict Old St Bartholomew’s, mentioned in the Doomsday Book, in Lower Sapey. It has the font from Old St Bartholomew’s which is early Norman.  The East window, put in in 1920, of the nativity scene, is fairly unique with the wise people being two men and one woman -quite forward thinking for 100 years ago!  It has a beautiful churchyard with specimen trees as old as the church.

Plans For the Future of Harpley Church

Harpley Church is currently in the process of exploring how its building can be used to serve the community whilst remaining a place of Christian prayer and worship.

Recently it has been awarded a grant to pay for an architect's feasibility study into the needs of the community and how the church building can be adapted.

Here are 4 possible options that the architect has provided us with for a consultation. If you have any comments please send them by email to the Church Warden, Candy Connolly at candy@shaneconnolly.co.uk
